Red Betsy A Lang Films Release
Set in the rolling hills and farmlands of rural Wisconsin during the 1940s, Red Betsy is a portrait of a close-knit midwestern family dealing with loss and change during a pivotal time in American history. Starring Alison Elliot (Spitfire Grill), the film illustrates the bonds of community and family, and the power of forgiveness during times of profound hardship and adversity. The score is intimate and lyrical, but also a bit hard and wood-hewn. Written for a small group of strings, clarinet, hammered dulcimer and piano. Co-written with composer (and friend) Michael Bacon (the result of a 9/11 induced scheduling crunch), recorded in Boston, NYC and Philadelphia.
